Recap: Eastern Ill vs. Ill-Chicago
Charleston, IL (Sports Network) - Gary Talton led all scorers with 20 points as the Illinios-Chicago Flames defeated the Eastern Illinois Panthers 67-63 in a BracketBuster matchup at Lantz Arena.
Hayden Humes and Daniel Barnes each scored 14 points for UIC (8-18) while Paris Carter came off the bench to net 10. Talton and Humes each grabbed seven boards for the Flames, who snapped a three-game losing streak.
For Eastern Illinois (12-15), Jeremy Granger tallied 18 points while L.C. Doss and Joey Miller scored 10 apiece. The loss for the Panthers ends a three-game winning streak.
UIC took a 33-26 lead into the break behind an impressive 56 percent shooting from the field in the opening half. Eastern Illinois connected on just 39.3 percent of its shots overall before halftime.
The Panthers improved their shooting to 48.4 percent in the second half, but the Flames kept pace by draining 47.8 percent of their field goal attempts.
UIC won in spite of 14 turnovers and just 6-of-20 shooting from three-point range.
