White Sox sign Kotsay to one-year deal

The Chicago White Sox signed veteran utilityman Mark Kotsay to a one-year, $1.5 million contract on Thursday.

The White Sox acquired Kotsay from Boston during the 2009 season in exchange for outfielder Brian Anderson. In 40 games with Chicago, the ninth overall pick of the 1996 draft hit .292 with three homers and 18 RBI.

Kotsay, 33, has played for six teams throughout his 13-year career, totaling 113 home runs and 632 RBI to go with a .281 career average. He has also played for Florida, San Diego, Oakland and Atlanta.
